Savor European Portrait Giveaway Finalists & Voting

Here they are! The top three finalists of the European Portrait Session Giveaway. One of these families will win a Savor Portrait session with inclusive CD. Now I need your help to decide where we’re going. Read to the end for information on voting.

Let me start out by saying it was so incredibly difficult to chose the top three. There were entries from Germany, Spain, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Israel, Spain, Slovenia and Monaco. Not only did each location sound exciting and enticing, each family story was compelling. I wish I could somehow visit you all! But in the end, my husband and I considered where we most wanted to go paired with the logistics of traveling and (just barely) narrowed it down to three. Meet the finalists!

Finalist #1

The Stephens Family, Vipiteno, Italy

Why we should go there:

“We live in a small town on the main chain of the Alps, very close to the Italian border with Austria. The reasons I love living here are very similar to the reasons why I think somebody should come to visit. Primarily it’s extremely beautiful! Vipiteno (or Sterzing in German) is old, we live in the so called New town – only 700 years old. The old town beats it by a hundred years. The medieval main street has mountain views at either end, and is only 500 yards from the nearest cable car taking you up to over 6000 ft (open in summer). We are also just a stone’s throw from several glaciers, though these take a little more effort to reach (7hr hike!) I treasure the fact that I can get high in the mountains straight from my front door without the need for a car.

The province is a bi-lingual Italian and German speaking area and was part of Austria until the break-up of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of the first world war. The town combines some of the best elements from both worlds, particularly in its cuisine – pizza, ice cream and coffee to die for, Austrian inspired dumplings, strudels and cakes. In the summer we enjoy hiking up to the high pastures and eating at one of the shepherd’s huts, many offer a simple menu to hungry walkers and are easily reachable, even by children. The shops and boutiques are full of Italian flare, many selling fashion normally only seen in larger, more cosmopolitan cities.

Vipiteno also has a great geographical advantage. We are 45 minutes from both Innsbruck (Austria) and Bolzano (Italy) or 2 hours from Munich (Germany) and Verona. If you extend the circle to 3 hours then you’re in Venice, Salzburg and any number of other northern Italian cities. Lake Garda is 2 hours away, and the world famous Dolomite mountains just under an hour.”

Finalist #2

The Linder Family, Bern Switzerland

Why we should go there:

“Switzerland. Do I really have to say more? I mean we are the country of Chocolate, Mountains, Cheese and Watches. Uhm yeah, if the chocolate part didn’t convince you already I will tell you a little bit more about one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, the capital of Switzerland Berne. It’s my hometown and I live here since my very first breath. I still get incredibly excited when I cross the bridge to enter the city with the stunning Alps as a perfect backdrop or when I walk down the narrow streets of our old town…  My heart sings when I look at the old frontages of the buildings as they are all built of sandstone which makes them loos out of a storybook. Yes I’m in love with this city and I have to ask you and your family come to visit it and explore it yourself!”

Finalist #3

The Parisi Family, French Riviera

Why we should go there:

“Provence is a very beautiful place! The beaches are really well kept,  nice, clean, safe, with good food and lovely people. We love it.

Now, just few reasons why you should come here:
1- Because as you see I really need a good picture of us!  
2- The 3rd of July is my birthday and a nice dinner with friends by the beach with the kids playing in the sand is now a tradition you don’t want to miss! hehe!
3- There will be plenty of kids to entertain yours
4- In front of the beach we go, there’s a flat platform where the kids jump in the water and mommies lay down getting a tan! I know the ocean in Florida is awesome, BUT the mediterranean sea is a completely different thing, especially for the kids!  no long waves, no tides, no sharks….it’s so much fun for them and much more relaxing for us!
5- A walk on the Croisette in Cannes is a “must”!
6- What’s the odds of taking again pictures of an Italian set of triplets?????” (This family lives in Italy but vacations in France.)

Winner will be the family with the most votes at the end of the voting period.Voting will end at 6pm Eastern on Sunday, May 29.
You can vote once a day during that time.
Portrait session must take place in one of the listed cities during the first week of July.
Prize includes a free session with images on CD, value of $750. No cash value.
